![]() ![]() ![]() By comparison, cargo not secured to a cargo grid is at risk of causing damage, to the surroundings or the cargo itself, and must also be manually stowed and placed as it isn’t connected to the cargo grid-kiosk interfaces.įinally, the moment many of you have been hoping for, in Star Citizen Alpha 3.6 we will be adding a cargo grid to the Anvil Valkyrie, occupying the same space as the vehicle storage. Cargo grids make carrying cargo much more convenient and practical, as they not only secure the cargo, but they also allow you to use kiosk terminals to load your ship. For all vehicles, there will be no physical limitation against carrying cargo other than the basic need for a space to place it. We spent some time thinking about how this could impact game balance and feel we have landed in a sweet spot that will excite many of you Valk pilots out there.įirst, let’s start by talking about the differences between cargo stored via cargo grid vs. unsecured cargo and desire for the Anvil Valkyrie to carry cargo. We’ve received a lot of feedback requesting clarification surrounding secured vs. Feel free to correct me, down vote, or call me salty but I just wanted to throw my thoughts out into the black.CIG’s Zyloh posted a thread on Spectrum Anvil Valkyrie Cargo Update I'm looking at you redeemer! With your two size three shields, two size 6 turrets and four pilot controlled guns. While simultaneously going buck wild with other ships. But it just seems the developers really try to make Anvil ships balanced with proper detractors built in. Granted, hull hp is a temporary measure before armor comes in and I really hope Anvil will excel at armor. The 85x (a luxury shuttle), the mpuv (space forklift) and the Merlin (single seat snub) all have more. But it's hull hp is the lowest of any ship. I understand it's a shuttle and shouldn't really be able to dogfight well and that's fine. Whenever someone says the carrack should have two entrances people shoot them down or remark how salty carrack owners are. The carrack interior isn't well designed in my opinion with the armory in the very back of the ship. The gladiator is really suffering and desperately needs at least a quality pass. I realize it's mechanic isn't in game yet but it's supposed to be long range recon ship, but with 950 QT fuel it's not very long range. The arrow is pretty good but the gladius is objectively better. I feel like any day now the lore team is going to retcon the hornet as the premier fighter for one of the aegis ships. ![]() Even now it typically gets outgunned by the sabre. Low hp, low maneuverability and small ish weapon load out. Now let's look at the staple of Anvil, the hornet. And with only one gun, I feel like you'd be better off opening the side door with a rail gun. On the ad it says it blurs the line between dropship and gunship but the side guns aren't very useful. You've brought up some valid points about the valkyrie. It seems that most Anvil ships are underwhelming, intentionally nerfed or in a bad state. This touches on something I've been curious about for quite some time, and I realize this may come across as just whining. TL DR- A lot of Anvil ships seem under powered or handicapped. Or will there actually be a variant without the seats? Is there anything else I can do with the Valkyrie well other than ROC mining?ĭo you think it will ever have a multi-role change to allow full cargo like the Hercs? I just don’t nearly enjoy piloting the Hercules as much as the Valkyrie. Even the C2 almost does better for the same price. I guess I’m just frustrated that an M2 does everything more completely than the Valkyrie. And I got the feeling that the developers were reluctant to even give it the 30 SCU of cargo. It could be an alternate combat supply carrier, but the vehicle bay is only that. But the elephant in the Valk is always the 20 empty seats. So, what else can we use it for? Well, strangely the best use I found for it was a group ROC mining since it can fit multiple ROCS and is a dream to pilot in low altitude atmosphere. Why not just use an M2 at that point to hold the troops and the APC? So, I think it lacks in the all but very specific troop drop scenarios and even then maybe the prowler does that better. So you need a C2 to drop those off so the 20 people can load in. Once you drop the troops at standoff range, what do you do? Get them in an APC! But Anvil didn’t make their premier troop carrier fit their own premier APC. Its primary role is troop transport, but can’t do much other than drop them in the middle of somewhere. Just throwing out an opinion to see if there are other like-minded individuals or find out if I am missing something. ![]()
